NAB kicks off April 7th with what promises (as usual!) to be an amazing event.
NAB Show® is home to the world's largest collection of vendors driving the future of media and entertainment. From content creation to consumption, myriad solutions await you on the Show Floor and are organized into eight Exhibit Communities to allow for efficient exploration. Get the first look at new products, discover import/export opportunities, and experience next-generation technologies through interactive exhibits, live demonstrations and technology-focused pavilions. Prepare to meet with C-level executives, trendsetters, and technology gurus responsible for advancing the tools you need to succeed in a digital world.
Again this year we are expanding our video coverage with programming on SVN LIVE! Tom White, Sports Editor; Tom Wilson, Video Journalism Editor; and John Churchman will be bringing you interviews and new product demonstrations from our partners and other exhibitors. We will also have special guests talking about new industry trends and products that could affect YOU and your school.
Visit the SVN listing of our partners and advertisers who will be exhibiting at NAB 2018 in our April Special Supplement. If you are attending NAB, please drop us a note at and meet up with us for a quick shout-out on our SVN LIVE! broadcast and perhaps a quick 2-3 minute statement on why YOU think educators should attend NAB.
Then, follow up with the 2018-2019 issue of the SVN Partner Product Guide, www.svngear.com for product information and case studies on the new products our partners are releasing. The SVN Partner Product Guide will be available in May, following all the exciting new releases at NAB.
When you inquire about products that you have seen in SVN, make sure you tell our partners that you see their ads in School Video News!
Blackmagic Design will be exhibiting its latest broadcast product offerings at NAB 2018, including the URSA Broadcast camera for studio programming and live production. URSA Broadcast works with existing B4 broadcast HD lenses, supports both HD and Ultra HD production, and features a 4K sensor, extended video dynamic range, traditional external controls and buttons, built-in optical ND filters, dual CFast and dual SD card recorders and more. Blackmagic Design will also showcase the new ATEM 4 M/E Broadcast Studio 4K, a high frame rate Ultra HD 2160p60 switcher, ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel, a compact hardware control panel designed to work with all ATEM switchers and Blackmagic Camera Fiber Converter and Blackmagic Studio Fiber Converter, which convert standard television industry connections for video, audio, power, talkback, tally and more into a single SMPTE hybrid electrical and fiber optic cable.
New SVN partner Henry Engineering will have their Sports Pod on display at NAB. Look for company president Hank Landsberg in the Broadcast General Store Booth, #C2022. He'll be there to explain how Sports Pod works, and how it integrates with other products that are ideal for sports event video broadcasts.
The Sports Pod was recently reviewed by Tom White, and solves a myriad of technical problems that are common with play-by-play broadcasts. Sports Pod is an announcer's "mini-console" that gives the talent control of their mic and headphones. It lets each announcer turn his mic on and off, talk-back to the Producer off-air, and create a custom mix of their headphone audio.
Henry Engineering has a really cool product coming soon that will revolutionize the way you do sports broadcasts! Drop by Booth C2022 to hear all about it at the 2018 NAB.

NDI® is in use on millions of devices and allows multiple video systems to identify and communicate with one another over IP. NDI can encode, transmit and receive many streams of high quality, low latency, frame-accurate video and audio in real time. This benefits any network-connected video device, including video mixers, graphics systems, capture cards, and many other production devices.
NDI also makes it possible to exponentially increase the number of sources available for live production switching, without directly attaching to devices, changing locations, or investing in expensive, high-bandwidth networks that simply replace SDI-based workflows.
NewTek is committed to continually updating NDI into the future, and offers applications to further boost the power of the interface.
