The video switching is controlled either by the touch screen or the traditional buttons on the front face of the panel.There are a variety of video effects available on the front face including picture in picture, a quad view, split screen and the traditional mix options.
Audio is controlled via the faders on the face or via the Roland Control Software, which is a free software allowing for advanced control of all of the features in the VR-4HD. A great feature of the VR-4HD is the “Auto-Mixing” feature that makes balancing multiple inputs a hands free operation but setting the priority to the channels you want focused on and letting the power of the Roland VR-4HD do the rest.
New for the VR-4HD at NAB 2017 was the graphics creation tools in the RCS software. Now graphics can be created and editing via an attached computer and easily incorporated into the broadcast using the downstream keying tools built into the VR-4HD.
After you have your audio mixed, cameras cued, and graphics ready for air, connect the VR-4HD to a USB 3 input in a computer with OBS or other video encoding software and you are ready to go live with not additional drivers or complicated set ups.
