For the past 20 years, the Ohio Educational Technology Conference has evolved to meet the ever-changing needs of Ohio’s educators.
For 2018, our extended sessions are being expanded and rolled into the full conference experience – Your Conference, Your Way!
More than 250 one-hour concurrent sessions and, new in 2018, our two-hour extended sessions, are being offered over all three days of the conference! Additionally, the first conference day will also feature three-hour deep dives that are included in your standard registration! Create an agenda that fits your schedule and depth of learning; it’s Your Conference, Your Way! This new schedule can be seen on the OETC Website.
The 2018 conference will also mark the return of the day-one opening general session, in a new afternoon time slot. In addition to great programming and the exhibit hall, the afternoon general session promises to be an entertaining way to kick off OETC’s 20th anniversary!
OETC is proud to welcome Dr. Wesley Fryer as the keynote speaker on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 4 p.m. Wes is a teacher, author, speaker, and the director of technology for Casady School in Oklahoma City. He is the co-host of the weekly “EdTech Situation Room” webshow and podcast (@edtechSR), and co-leads an afterschool STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) club for elementary students. He is the author of several books on effectively using digital technologies to communicate, tell stories, create media projects, and develop STEM coding skills. Wes became a Google Certified Teacher in 2009, was named an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2005, and a PBS Digital Innovator in 2014. He and his wife, Shelly, have three children.
In addition, we are proud to welcome John Sileo as the keynote speaker on Wednesday, February 14, 2018. John's identity was stolen and used to embezzle $300,000 from his clients. The exposure destroyed John’s career and consumed two years of his life as he fought to stay out of jail. Combining real-world experience with years of study, John became an award winning author and leading expert on cyber security, identity theft, and data privacy.
Today, John is CEO of The Sileo Group, a data security think tank that helps organizations protect the information that drives their profits. His body of work includes engagements with the Pentagon, USA Today, Visa, 60 Minutes, Homeland Security, Rachael Ray, Schwab, and organizations of all sizes.
